Mission
FLORIDA ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL SAFETY SPECIALISTS (FS3) WILL PROVIDE A NOT-FOR-PROFIT, PUBLIC PURPOSE ORGANIZATION TO SERVE AS AN INSTRUMENTALITY OF, AND AN AGENT FOR, SCHOOL SAFETY SPECIALISTS IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA. IT IS A NON-POLITICAL, NON-PARTISAN ORGANIZATION TO AID AND ASSIST SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOL SAFETY SPECIALISTS TO CARRY OUT THEIR PUBLIC PURPOSE OF PREVENTING VIOLENCE ON SCHOOL GROUNDS AND FUNCTIONS BY EDUCATING AND PROVIDING CERTIFIED TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES; ADVOCATE FOR DISTRICT SCHOOL SAFETY SPECIALISTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE AND FEDERAL LAW; AND COOPERATIVELY WORK WITH PUBLIC OFFICIALS, PUBLIC ORGANIZATIONS, PRIVATE CITIZENS, AND PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS LOCALLY, STATEWIDE, AND NATIONALLY TO STIMULATE AND ENCOURAGE PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT ENHANCING THE ABOVE STATED AIMS.
Program accomplishments
- FS3 HELD ITS ANNUAL FLORIDA SCHOOL SAFETY SUMMIT IN JUNE 2024. THE CONFERENCE FOCUSED ON THE IMPORTANCE THE STATE OF FLORIDA PLACES ON KEEPING ALL SCHOOLS SAFE. THE EVENT'S THEME WAS "PARTNERSHIPS IN SCHOOL SECURITY AND MENTAL HEALTH." IT EMPHASIZED THE IMPORTANCE OF SCHOOL SAFETY PROFESSIONALS WORKING ALONGSIDE THEIR MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL COUNTERPARTS. THE SUMMIT FEATURED AN EXPO HALL WHICH INCLUDED SCHOOL SAFETY EXHIBITORS AND VARIOUS SERVICE PROVIDERS WHO PROVIDED INFORMATION ABOUT PRODUCTS AND SERVICES THAT COULD POTENTIALLY BENEFIT DISTRICT SECURITY AND MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVES. APPROXIMATELY 305 ATTENDEES, OF WHICH APPROXIMATELY 80 WERE SCHOOL SAFETY SPECIALISTS, ATTENDED THIS INAUGURAL CONFERENCE.
