REPRESENTING FLIGHT DISPATCHERS AND DISPATCHERS' ASSISTANTS AS SOLE BARGAINING AGENT.
Program accomplishments
- THE TRANSPORT WORKERS UNION OF AMERICA LOCAL 550 IS A LABOR ORGANIZATION FUNCTIONING AS THE LEGAL REPRESENTATIVE AND SOLE BARGAINING AGENT FOR THE FLIGHT DISPATCHERS, DISPATCH ASSISTANTS, AND METEOROLOGISTS EMPLOYED BY SOUTHWEST AIRLINES. THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY ACTIVITIES INCLUDE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING, NEGOTIATING AMENDMENTS TO THE LABOR AGREEMENT, MANAGING DISPATCHER COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS, AND REPRESENTING MEMBERS IN DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS, ARBITRATIONS, OR GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES. TO PROMOTE THE HIGHEST DEGREE OF SAFETY, EFFICIENCY, AND PROFESSIONAL ADVANCEMENT IN AIR TRANSPORTATION, THE ORGANIZATION CONDUCTS SAFETY AND STANDARDIZATION PROGRAMS WITH SOUTHWEST AIRLINES AND SPONSORS MEMBER ATTENDANCE AT INDUSTRY ESSENTIAL SAFETY, ARBITRATION, AND LABOR CONVENTIONS. ADDITIONALLY, THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS GLOBAL PROFESSIONAL DISPATCH STANDARDS BY FUNDING MEMBERSHIP DUES FOR ALL REPRESENTED INDIVIDUALS IN THE AIRLINE DISPATCHERS FEDERATION (ADF) AND THE INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF AIRLINE DISPATCHERS ASSOCIATIONS (IFALDA).
