Mission
TO PRESERVE OUR HISTORY BY RESTORING AND OPERATING RELEVANT HISTORICAL RAILROAD EQUIPMENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF EDUCATION, TOURISM, AND GOODWILL FOR METRO NASHVILLE AND MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
Program accomplishments
- RESTORATION WORK CONTINUED ON #576, INCLUDING REPLACEMENT OF BOILERTUBES AND FLUES, OVERHAUL OF SUPERHEATER, INCLUDING NEW TUBE ENDS. TENDER WORK CONTINUED INCLUDING COMPLETION OF OVERHAUL OF BOTH TRUCKS. A MAJOR MILESTONE WAS REACHED WHEN THE LOCOMOTIVE PASSED ITS HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE TEST ADMINISTERED BY THE FEDERAL RAILROAD ADMINISTRATION. SUBSEQUENT TESTS UNDER LIVE STEAM ARE SCHEDULED MID 2026 AS RESTORATION NEARS COMPLETION. THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUES TO PLAN SHIFTING TO ACTUAL OPERATION. SUBSTANTIAL TRAINING AND EDUCATION WILL BE NECESSARY FOR SAFE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE LOCOMOTIVE AS WELL AS A COMPREHENSIVE SAFETY PROGRAM FOR THE PASSENGERS AND PUBLIC DURING EXCURSION EVENTS.Expenses $391,080 · revenue $11,065
