- YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: AS ONE OF THE LARGEST CHILD CARE PROVIDERS IN NORTHEAST INDIANA, YMCA CHILD CARE SERVICES FULFILLS A CRITICAL NEED FOR QUALITY AND EDUCATIONAL CHILDCARE FOR HUNDREDS OF WORKING FAMILIES IN THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE. IN 2025, THROUGH A NEWLY EXPANDED PARTNERSHIP WITH FORT WAYNE COMMUNITY SCHOOLS, YMCA CHILD CARE SERVICES NOW OPERATES SCHOOL AGED CHILD CARE, OR Y CARE, TO OVER TWENTY SITES WITHIN ONE OF THE BIGGEST SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN THE STATE BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL. FOR CHRISTIAN BROWNLEE AND HER SON LUCA AT GLENWOOD PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, Y CARE HAS PROVIDED CRUCIAL SUPPORT WHILE ALLOWING CHRISTIAN TO FOCUS ON WORKING FULL-TIME TO BETTER PROVIDE FOR HER FAMILY. "JUST SO THAT I'M ABLE TO STILL DO THE JOB THAT I NEED TO DO TO, YOU KNOW, KEEP UP WITH HIM," SAYS CHRISTIAN. "THEY'RE (THE Y CARE STAFF) AWESOME. AND IT'S SO CONVENIENT BECAUSE IT'S IN THE SCHOOL. IF I DIDN'T HAVE BEFORE AND AFTER CARE, I WOULD PROBABLY BE STRUGGLING OR TRYING TO DEPEND ON OTHER PEOPLE TO HELP. BUT WITH THIS BEING IN HIS SCHOOL, IT'S SUPER CONVENIENT AND THE STAFF IS AMAZING." "IT WOULD BE A LOT OF STRESS," ADDED REBEKAH AND JEREMY HILL, WHO HAVE TWO SONS IN Y CARE. "WE WOULD REALLY JUST HAVE TO CHANGE OUR SCHEDULE, WHICH WOULD MEAN LESS FAMILY TIME, BECAUSE WE WOULD HAVE TO BE WORKING DIFFERENT SHIFTS OR MAKE ME CHANGE MY JOB." "WHEN MY HUSBAND AND I MOVED HERE A FEW YEARS AGO, WE DIDN'T REALLY KNOW ANYBODY," ADDS TIFFANY KIRCHNER, MOTHER OF MAKENZIE. "WE REALLY NEEDED SOMEONE OR A PLACE FOR HER TO GO AFTER SCHOOL WHILE WE CONTINUE TO WORK FULL TIME. THE EXPERIENCE AND THE WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE THAT THEY BRING IN WORKING WITH KIDS FROM KINDERGARTEN AND OLDER HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT INCREDIBLY HELPFUL FOR US. IT'S A TRUSTED NAME A TRUSTED ORGANIZATION. I THINK THE CORE VALUES THAT THE Y BRINGS ARE SOMETHING THAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT TO US. THE STAFF HERE TREATS OUR KIDS LIKE THEY WOULD THEIR OWN."
