Mission
THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF GENETIC COUNSELORS ADVANCES THE VARIOUS ROLES OF GENETIC COUNSELORS IN HEALTH CARE BY FOSTERING EDUCATION, RESEARCH, AND PUBLIC POLICY TO ENSURE THE AVAILABILITY OF QUALITY GENETIC SERVICES.
Program accomplishments
- ANNUAL MEETINGS, ONLINE EDUCATION, AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS EDUCATING ATTENDEES ON UPDATES AND ADVANCEMENTS IN THE GENETIC COUNSELING FIELD.
- PUBLICATIONS AND WEBSITE: NSGC PRODUCES THE JOURNAL OF GENETIC COUNSELING AND ITS NEWSLETTER, PERSPECTIVES IN GENETIC COUNSELING. THE NSGC WEBSITE PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL AND NETWORKING RESOURCES FOR MEMBERS.
- AWARDS AND FELLOWSHIPS: PRIMARILY THE JANE ENGELBERG MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIP, WHICH PROVIDES RECIPIENTS WITH A RESEARCH PROJECT GRANT. OTHER AWARDS ARE PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT HONORARIA.
