Program accomplishments

  • Lobbying ALMIA conducted numerous meetings with staff advisors working on health care policy issues generally and broker issues in particular. The focus of the meetings has been to introduce ALMIA and its members, along with the shared practices among member companies, such as commission-blind, state licensed advice to beneficiaries. Meeting discussions focused on the CY25 proposed and final regulations, which placed limits on administrative fees for the first time. Lobbying encounters included staff advisors to members of both the Republican and Democratic parties who serve on the House Ways and Means Committee, the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and the Senate Finance Committee. Meetings also took place with senior advisors at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
    Expenses $112,000
  • Conference This organization hosted its inaugural annual roundtable meeting, designed to foster dialogue and collaboration among regulators, industry professionals, and health policy experts,in the summer of 2024. Focused on discussing trends, regulatory updates, and best practices within the Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug Plans sector, this event is coordinated by the organizations numbers. This meeting directly supports our exempt purpose by promoting education and facilitating constructive dialogue on public policy and industry best practices, which is crucial for regulatory compliance and advocacy. It not only aids in disseminating vital regulatory and operational information but also helps elevate industry standards and enhance service quality provided to Medicare beneficiaries. Despite the modest portion of the overall budget it occupies, the roundtable meetings impact on industry practices and member education is significant, underscoring its value to our organizations mission.
