Mission
Huron Station Playhouse's mission is to champion new voices in theater and film, and provide education and access to the surrounding area by connecting local artists and students from a historically working-class neighborhood to creative professionals from the highest echelons of the entertainment industry. Through new plays, writing workshops, acting classes and evenings of creative education, we hope to revitalize theater in Los Angeles while providing opportunities to the next generation of writers, actors and filmmakers.

- Theater Productions: In the last year, HSP has put on 5 staged play readings. Across the 5 play readings, 1,650 people attended as audience members, 40 young people volunteered and participated as ushers and 65 artists contributed their talents. This programming was built on a creative community of artists and theater-goers interacting. 50% of tickets were $45 or less to create affordability and members of the east side community were offered an additional 20% discount on the tickets.Expenses $21,933

The cost of the program was $100 per student, with 4 students receiving full scholarships and 3 more receiving a partial scholarship. The goal of the program was to provide students with a high quality summer acting education program without a financialbarrier to entry.
