Mission
The Aviation Supply Chain Integrity Coalition (ASCIC) is working on a formal effort to develop better safeguards against unapproved parts from entering the commercial aviation supply chain in the United States and Europe. This will be conducted by members of ASCIC which include senior representatives from Airbus, American Airlines, Boeing, Delta Air Lines, GE Aerospace, Safran, StandardAero and United Airlines.
Program accomplishments
- ASCIC conducted a formal, comprehensive overview of the aviation propulsion supply chain industry through bi-weekly member meetings, research, interviews with dozens of industry experts, and special emphasis meetings to address the introduction of unauthorized parts into the supply chain. Fifty percent of ASCIC's total time and expenses were allocated to this past activity and were funded by membership dues.
- Based on its review of the supply chain industry, ASCIC developed a report of written recommendations for vendor accreditation, document verification, and parts traceability. Fifty percent of ASCIC's total time and expenses were allocated to this past activity and were funded by membership dues.
- ASCIC plans to monitor the commercial aviation supply chain and collaborate with industry members, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to recommend updates to safeguards and best practices. One hundred percent of ASCIC's total time and expenses were allocated to this planned activity and were funded by membership dues.
