Mission
To bring together people with a mutual interest in the important history and historical role of Chinese and Chinese Americans in Southern California; To pursue, preserve and communicate knowledge of this history; and To promote the heritage of the Chinese and Chinese American community in support of a better appreciation of our rich, multi-cultural society of the United States.
Program accomplishments
- Digital Library and Archives: The Organization is continuing the process of fully implementing the Preservation Assessment recommendations with respect to its Digital Library and Archives. Since 2021, the Organization has hired archivists as Collections Manager to assess, organize and manage the Digital Library and Archives. In addition, other qualified archivists have been contracted to convert its Archives and Collections into a digital format for greater public access.Expenses $60,959
- Chinese American WWII Veterans Recognition Project: The organization sent members to the New Orleans presentation to support our brave WWII VeteransExpenses $5,109
- L.A. Chinese Census: A research project that analyzed federal census records to reconstruct the lives of residents in different Los Angeles Chinatowns and using oral histories to supplement the data.Expenses $5,400
