THE NORTHWEST GROCERY ASSOCIATION SERVES AS THE LEADING ADVOCATE FOR THE GROCERY, RETAIL AND FOOD SUPPLIERS IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST, REPRESENTING WASHINGTON, OREGON AND IDAHO. THE NORTHWEST GROCERY RETAIL ASSOCIATION PROMOTES THE COMMON INTERESTS OF THE GROCERY INDUSTRY BY PROVIDING ADVOCACY, LEADERSHIP AND A VOICE ON THE ISSUES THAT AFFECT OUR COMMUNITIES AND FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN ACROSS THE NORTHWEST.

ACTIVITIES INCLUDE MONITORING LEGISLATION, PROVIDING TESTIMONY, ENGAGING WITH STATE AND LOCAL POLICYMAKERS, AND EDUCATING LEGISLATORS ON ISSUES AFFECTING GROCERY RETAILERS, SUPPLIERS, AND PARTNERS.
  • REPRESENTATION BEFORE STATE LEGISLATURES AND CITY OFFICIALS RELATED TO LEGISLATIVE ISSUES AFFECTING THE INDUSRY IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. ISSUES COMMONLY ENGAGED: TAXES, LABOR & EMPLOYMENT, ENVIRONMENTAL/PRODUCT TAKEBACK, BOTTLE BILL/REDEMPTION MODERNIZATION, RETAIL THEFT, ALCOHOL REGULATION, PHARMACY SCOPE & PBM REFORMS, DELIVERY REGULATIONS, LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROPOSALS, AND GENERAL BUSINESS REGULATION. INTERACTION POINTS: LEGISLATIVE HEARINGS, RULEMAKING, AGENCY MEETINGS, COALITION PARTICIPATION, AND STAKEHOLDER WORKGROUPS.
