Program accomplishments
- DURING 2024, ACTIVITIES WERE PRIMARILY ORIENTED TOWARD ORGANIZING FOR FUTURE EVENTS, WITH EMPHASIS ON THE 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP SOCCER TOURNAMENT, FOR WHICH THE NEW YORKNEW JERSEY REGION WILL HOST EIGHT GAMES. THE YEAR WAS DEVOTED TO PRELIMINARY PLANNING EFFORTS, INCLUDING THE DEVELOPMENT OF ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY AND EVENT READINESS. KEY MILESTONES ACHIEVED INCLUDED HIRING ESSENTIAL STAFF TO SUPPORT ORGANIZING ACTIVITIES AND IDENTIFYING AND SECURING BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE FUNDING STREAMS TO SUSTAIN THESE INITIATIVES.
