Program accomplishments

  • POST RELIEF INCLUDES POPPY CAMPAIGNS, WREATHS ACROSS AMERICAN AND OTHER RELIEF ACTIVITIES.Usually one but sometimes two Poppy campaigns throughout the year. All money raised by the Poppy campaign goes directly to the relief fund. Last year we held one major campaign for two days at the Yokes in Kennewick and Yokes in Pasco. The Auxiliary also holds one event per year. Their last event was in November. We also took advantage to perform some smaller Poppy events at the Veteran Standdown event in November and other information booth activities at the Convention Center.Wreaths across America campaign provided approximately 120 wreaths for 120 veterans graves in November and December. For Relief activities we provided $500 to Columbia Basin Vet Center to help a Veteran in need, $600 for the two Parades we supported (Benton Franklin Fair Parade and Regional Veterans Parade). We also provided $750 directly to a Veteran in need and another $1000 to a Veteran in need. We also provided $100 to the VFW National Home.

  • YOUTH FUND - Our VOICE OF DEMOCRACY campaign is awarded in November. This year we provided $1000 to the first place winner, $800 to second place, and $500 to third place. We also funded $225 to the Auxiliary to support their Youth Essays. We provided $500 to the Columbia River Young Marines. The Post now provides sponsorships of $1000 to the Hanford High JROTC, $1000 to the Kennewick High JROTC, $1000 to the Tri-City Young Marines, and $1000 to the Columbia River Young Marines.
