Mission
SIT AND BE FIT IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION COMMITTED TO HEALTHY AGING ADVOCACY. WE BELIEVE EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO FEEL GOOD AND AGE WELL. WE EMPOWER PEOPLE TO IMPROVE THEIR LIVES THROUGH SAFE, EFFECTIVE, MEDIA-BASED HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAMMING.
Program accomplishments
- SIT AND BE FIT IS A MEDIA-BASED ORGANIZATION THAT PROMOTES HEALTHY AGING AND FITNESS BY TEACHING GENTLE, MEDICALLY SOUND EXERCISES TO OLDER ADULTS, THOSE MANAGING CHRONIC CONDITIONS, AND THOSE WITH PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS. SIT AND BE FIT ALSO SERVES AS A RESOURCE FOR CAREGIVERS, FITNESS EXPERTS, AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS. IN NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER OF 2023 SIT AND BE FIT PRODUCED 20 NEW EPISODES SEASONS 19 AND 20. THE NEW EPISODES WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO PUBLIC TELEVISION STATIONS IN 2024. THE SIT AND BE FIT TELEVISION SERIES, SEASONS 10-18, CONTINUE TO AIR THROUGHOUT THE PUBLIC TELEVISION NETWORK AVERAGING 44,000 AIRINGS PER YEAR. ADDITIONALLY, THE SERIES AIRS IN AN UNDETERMINED NUMBER OF GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY ACCESS CABLE STATIONS. THE SIT AND BE FIT DVD WORKOUT LIBRARY AND STREAMING PLATFORM CONTINUE TO SERVE COMMUNITIES AND POPULATIONS WHERE THE SERIES IS NOT AVAILABLE. THESE RESOURCES ARE SIMILARLY USED BY HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS IN VARIOUS SETTINGS INCLUDING SENIOR LIVING FACILITIES, SENIOR CENTERS, AND HOSPITALS. SIT AND BE FIT STAFF RESPONDED PERSONALLY TO HUNDREDS OF INQUIRIES ABOUT EXERCISES THAT ADDRESS SPECIFIC HEALTH NEEDS AND PROVIDED EXERCISE RESOURCES INCLUDING THE NEUROPATHY EXERCISE GUIDE, AND LYMPHATIC HEALTH EXERCISE GUIDE. OVER 500 SIT AND BE FIT DVDS WERE DONATED TO FACILITIES, COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS ON LIMITED BUDGETS. APPROXIMATELY 140,000 UNIQUE VISITORS POPULATE THE WWW.SITANDBEFIT.ORG WEBSITE WHERE THEY CAN FIND HEALTH AND FITNESS TIPS AS WELL AS INFORMATION ABOUT WHERE/WHEN THE TELEVISION SERIES AIRS. PERIODIC ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTERS ARE SENT TO A DATABASE OF 13,000 PLUS. THESE ELECTRONIC NEWSFLASHES FEATURE ARTICLES ON TOPICS RANGING FROM HEALTHY AGING AND CHRONIC CONDITION MANAGEMENT TO NUTRITION AND INJURY PREVENTION. A HARD COPY OF A COMPLIMENTARY NEWSLETTER IS OFFERED VIA THE TELEVISION PROGRAM AND SENT TO VIEWERS WHO CALL AND REQUEST A COPY.Expenses $111,504
