Program accomplishments
- WSBA Justice and Diversity efforts. The Washington State Bar Foundation grants funds to the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) and WSBA designated partners in support of WSBAs efforts to advance diversity and justice. Funds support implementation of the WSBA Equity & Justice plan and pro bono and public service programs that engage legal professionals in providing free to low-cost legal assistance. - Payment of Powerful Communities grants in support of legal aid projects conducted throughout Washington state. These grants provide crucial funds to organizations that provide legal services in their communities. Grantees work with immigrant communities, people who are formerly incarcerated, tribal communities, the LGBTQIA2S+ community, youth of color, and many others. Grants have been provided to organizations in over 20 Washington counties, with some organizations providing statewide services. This also paid for stipends for grant reviewers.Expenses $46,000 · grants $45,000
- Support for access to justice initiatives that promote diversity and representation in the legal field, including support for stipends that enable impacted community members to serve on committees that make recommendations about access to justice issues. The ability to hear the voices of people with lived experience is critical to making decisions that take multiple perspectives into account.Expenses $11,504 · grants $196
