Mission

To preserve and celebrate the art science and history of railroading through world-class model railroad exhibits hands-on education and community engagement - making the wonder of railroading accessible to visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

Program accomplishments

  • After the classroom portion the children were given a section of 2-inch thick foamboard to be the base for their module. They had railroad track and scenery materials available for use to construct a small diorama using their imagination and what they had seen on the layouts during their tour. Several different techniques for using the scenery materials were demonstrated and the children really got into making their scenes as realistic as they could.
