Mission

The Economic Development Association for Black Communities (EDABC) connects, convenes, and catalyzes people, resources, and opportunities to ensure Black communities are positioned to prosper, grow, and thrive. We serve as a critical intermediary to amplify opportunities, access, and results across the regions where our communities reside with a focus on three crucial verticals: talent, business growth and retention, and policy.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • Workforce - EDABC's workforce efforts in 2024 emphasized leadership development and building connections between employers and talent.
  • Business Growth and Retention - Through convenings and direct engagement, EDABC supported entrepreneurs and business leaders by building networks and fostering opportunities for business development. Business leaders were invited to participate in the Legislative Preview Breakfast, Coffee and Chat gatherings, and Under the Dome event as pathways to strengthen their enterprises through policy knowledge, workforce connections, and broader visibility.
  • Policy- EDABC hosted a series of events and engagements aimed at ensuring Black business leaders and community stakeholders are informed, connected, and equipped to engage in the legislative process. The Legislative Preview Breakfast brought together policymakers, community leaders, and business owners to discuss upcoming legislative priorities impacting economic development in Colorado. Coffee and Chat Series were held at local coffee shops throughout the year, these informal gatherings created space for dialogue between community members, policymakers, and EDABC leadership. Under the Dome was a coordination of a day at the Colorado State Capitol where black leaders engaged directly with legislators, received education on the legislative process, and built relationships with key policymakers.
  • Board Development and Governance - EDABC invested in strengthening its internal governance and leadership capacity. In 2024, the organization hosted an all-day board retreat at its headquarters, where directors engaged in discussions on board development, deepened their understanding of economic development, and collaboratively planned the organization's future work.
