Program accomplishments

  • Mama Mary Menya Clinic and Compound: Facilitated the opening and continuing operation of a small local clinic and pharmacy in the north Alego Siaya region of Kenya. In this same area a well with water tank, a posho mill to grind grain, a community garden and a chicken coop were added to create jobs and sustainability. An average of 50 patients are treated per month at the clinic. The compound also hosts monthly meetings of tribal elders to help them with health and wellness activities and provide a nourishing lunch . Around 52 elders meet each month with some coming more frequently if they have health issues. The chicken coop provides income for young mothers who share in the upkeep. 14 young mothers are part of the daily care roster for the chickens. The young mothers also meet twice monthly at the compound for health and wellness coaching.
    Expenses $52,204
  • Nyahera in the Alego Siaya region of Kenya: facilitated clearing land, fence and security gate for an area of future use for creating a local business that would create ongoing funding for the Mama Mary Menya clinic. This is preparation for a future project.
