Mission

One Heart serves the regional foster system by equipping, networking, and empowering the faith community to apply their resources to foster or foster-adjacent programs in effective ways. We gather monthly to share resources, host guest speakers, and plan events. Virtually all expenses to our functions are absorbed by partner churches.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2023

Program accomplishments

  • One Heart gathered partner churches through monthly meetings (10 out of 12 months) to share information, resources, and ideas. The group selected topics and outside speakers from relevant service providers to children and families at risk of, or currently under, the Texas foster system. Attendees use these experiences to help get their churches engaged in ways that are aligned with their faith community's resources, skill sets, and passions. In particular, One Heart coordinated monthly Foster Parent Nights Out every month of the year (except July) across six partner church campuses. One Heart also coordinated a trauma-informed workshop for children's ministries and ministry volunteers open to any church in Lubbock. One of the most important roles One Heart again played in the community was "soft" networking, or connecting people, needs, and opportunities with churches ready and willing to engage, but who would otherwise not be aware of such things.
