Program accomplishments

  • Programs for Neurodivergent Individuals - MNprov Mixers and MNprov FrieNDs are weekly in-person and virtual improvisation workshops that offer a safe, fun and authentic way for neurodivergent adults (Mnprov Mixers) and teens (MNprov FrieNDs) to strengthen life skills such as communication, self-confidence, collaboration, resilience, flexibility and more. These workshops provide social connections as well as practice with skills needed for work and life. MNprov completed 95 sessions of Mixers - 55 held in person and 40 on Zoom - serving neurodivergent adults ages 18-55+, for a reach of 519 total participants. Participants say: "It's helped me understand what it's like to feel safe unmasked in social situations." "Mixers have given me a reason to work on my social and transportation anxiety." "It's good practice for unmasking... it lets me show up more as myself." Surveys completed by MNprov FrieNDs participants and their caregivers showed that 100% of responding teens said they met new people, felt accepted, and had fun, 100% improved their collaboration skills and confidence, and 100% said they would like to participate again.

  • MNprov Live! - MNprov Live! is an improvisation performance troupe made up of eight neurodivergent individuals who are paid for their rehearsal time and performances. Through representation rarely seen in professional theater, these performers shape culture and prove that inclusion and excellence go hand in hand. Each performer showed measurable growth in collaboration, confidence, creativity, and stage presence - and all eight remained actively engaged throughout the year. Troupe reflections show real-world skill transfer in work, communication, and confidence. 3 troupe members now serve as paid teaching assistants for MNprov Mixers, 1 troupe member manages MNprov's social media outreach. One audience member shared, "April's show was SO much fun. Attend for the humor and discover an amazing program empowering people who simply are not defined by their disabilities."
