Mission

The purpose of this organization is to foster interest among the public in the work and mission of Covenant House New Jersey Inc. a 501 (c)(3) organization that provides shelter, transitional living and non-residential services to homeless, trafficked and at-risk kids under the age of 21.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • On September 19, 2026, the organization hosted a fall benefit to support Covenant House New Jersey (CHNJ), raising funds and increasing awareness of its mission to serve youth experiencing homelessness and human trafficking. The event was open to the public and brought together community members, local businesses, and supporters. The program featured CHNJ staff, who provided an overview of services and impact, as well as a former resident who shared a personal testimonial illustrating the importance of CHNJ's work. These remarks helped educate attendees and deepen understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable youth. Fundraising efforts included a silent auction of donated items and experiences, corporate sponsorships secured in advance, and a Fund A Need initiative. The Fund A Need program presented specific donation levels tied to CHNJ's immediate needs, such as shelter, meals, counseling, and educational support, enabling donors to clearly understand the impact of their contributions. The event successfully advanced the organization's exempt purpose by generating financial support for CHNJ while increasing public awareness and community engagement. Proceeds directly support CHNJ's programs and services for at-risk youth. As a result of the evening, the Auxiliary was able to gift $50,000 to CHNJ to use as needed and replenish its own funds for future events and expenses.
    Expenses $20,000
  • The Morris Auxiliary supported the Covenant House New Jersey Women's Unite Sleep Out by offering a $5000 dollar sponsorship match. The Auxiliary matched participant sponsorships dollar for dollar, up to a total of $5000 dollars, effectively doubling contributions and generating up to $10000 dollars in support of Covenant House New Jersey programs.
    Expenses $5,000
  • The Morris Auxiliary Christmas Stocking Program supported residents of Covenant House New Jersey programs by providing holiday gifts and essential items. A total of 65 stockings were assembled and distributed to youth at the Youth Engagement Center in Newark, Raphael's Life House in Elizabeth, and Nancy's Place in Montclair. Each stocking included essential toiletries, candy, and gift cards, and was delivered prior to Christmas Day. In addition, the program provided holiday decorations, gift cards, and Snuggies to residents of the Rights of Passage program in Newark. All recipient locations are part of Covenant House New Jersey's continuum of care. This initiative enhanced the holiday experience for participating youth while supporting their basic needs.
    Expenses $2,600
