Mission
TO RAISE THE QUALITY OF THE PRACTICE OF ANESTHESIOLOGY, TO IMPROVE PATIENT CARE AND SAFETY THROUGH EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY, AND TO DISSEMINATE CURRENT INFORMATION ABOUT SCIENTIFIC PROGRESS IN ANESTHESIOLOGY.
Program accomplishments
- IN 2024, THE ARIZONA SOCIETY OF ANESTHESIOLOGISTS AZSA CELEBRATED ITS 50TH ANNUAL MEETING ON JANUARY 19-20 AT THE GILA RIVER RESORTS ANDCASINOS--WILD HORSE PASS IN CHANDLER, ARIZONA. THE EVENT FEATURED ESTEEMED GUEST FACULTY, INCLUDING DR. BRENDA A. GENTZ, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF CLINICAL ANESTHESIOLOGY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA COLLEGE OF MEDICINE. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, AZSA CONTINUED ITS COMMITMENT TO EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE BY PROVIDING A PLATFORM FOR THE EXCHANGE OF SCIENTIFIC AND CLINICAL KNOWLEDGE AMONG ANESTHESIOLOGISTS STATEWIDE. THE SOCIETY ALSO MAINTAINED ITS ACTIVE ROLE IN LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY, WORKING TO PROTECT PATIENT SAFETY AND UPHOLD HIGH STANDARDS IN ANESTHESIOLOGY PRACTICE. ADDITIONALLY, AZSA COLLABORATED WITH THE ARIZONA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION TO SUCCESSFULLY REMOVE DANGEROUS SCOPE OF PRACTICE EXPANSION LANGUAGE FROM SB1334, THE APRN STATE COMPACT BILL, ENSURING THAT ANESTHESIA CARE REMAINS UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF QUALIFIED PHYSICIANS. THEY ALSO DECIDED TO PLAN REGIONAL MEETINGS INSTEAD OF 1 LARGE CONFERENCE TO GET TO MEMBERS IN OTHER AREAS OF ARIZONA.
