Mission

Charity. Laurel for the Patuxent is a 501c3 charity with a mission to protect and restore the environment and to advance a more resilient and sustainable future.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • We fundraised to create a mural in town that celebrates nature, native birds, and a local world renowned ornithologist. Locally and globally, biodiversity is threatened by pollution, habitat destruction, and environmental change. All who view this mural will appreciate the beauty and importance of the natural environment and will be inspired to take action to protect it in their communities, across the Patuxent River watershed and everywhere.
    Expenses $20,674
  • We created the Laurel Native Habitats program which allowed 4 people to transform up to 100 square feet of their lawn into a native garden that supports birds, bees, butterflies and other wildlife. We provide the planning, preparation, and plants to convert a section of each participant's yard into a native garden. Participants learn, work, and build a community around native plants and supporting wildlife with each other and with past program members and Laurel for the Patuxent members.
    Expenses $1,794
  • General outreach, education, and events. We table booths at festivals to engage the community on conservation and sustainability efforts. We host litter clean-ups and native garden weeding to protect the watershed. We remove invasive vines and plants to protect native trees for habitat. We create and install interpretive signs. Our work supports conservation, restoration, and storm water mitigation.
    Expenses $2,744
