Program accomplishments

  • The Albuquerque Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (ALBUMOAA, or Chapter) is a member of the NM Military/Veterans Leadership Council (MVLC) which solely concentrates on state legislative issues: current issues include making the Retiree Tax Exemption permanent, Increasing the Veterans Property Tax Exemption & Initiatives to address Veterans Homelessness. As part of this Council, we meet throughout the year with state legislators, testify in front of both the Interim House/Senate Veterans Affairs Committees and regular Committees during the session. Together, we raised and donated more money than ever before, strengthened our advocacy and educational efforts, and-most importantly-enjoyed the camaraderie and connection of one another. Our collective dedication truly made a difference. We continued to support our military members and their families through partnering with local ROTC programs to provide mentorship to students both before and after graduation; hosting a birthday party for our members of age 90 or more; holding a memorial for our Fallen; and garage sales to boost our giving program. We also expanded our outreach through our Facebook page and our website to recruit new members and share chapter events; continuing our legislative advocacy; and volunteering at community events throughout the area. The Chapter has an excellent giving program. For 2025: ROTC Awards (3 College Juniors) $1,500; Blue Star Mothers - Rio Grande Chapter $1,500; Blue Star Mothers - Valencia Chapter $1,500; NM Veterans Integration Center (VIC) $3,000; Fisher House $750; Paws and Stripes $1,000; AFSA $100, and; Honor Flight of Northern NM $1,500. The Chapter provides JROTC Medals to 18 local high schools and ROTC Medals to three UNM programs; members of the Chapter personally do the presentation. The Chapter has a quarterly Social for members with presenters from the community. The Chapter participated in Wreaths Across America. The Chapter has 2 other activities open to members: Luncheon Club (quarterly with speaker); and Ski Club (4-5 ski trips per year).
