THE MISSION OF THE ALLIANCE FOR FLUSHING MEADOWS CORONA PARK IS TO SUPPORT NYC PARKS TO PRESERVE, MAINTAIN, AND IMPROVE FLUSHING MEADOWS CORONA PARK FOR THE BENEFIT AND USE OF THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES AND ALL NEW YORKERS.
Program accomplishments
- PARK MAINTENANCE AND STEWARDSHIPTHE ALLIANCE CONTINUES TO GROW ITS PARK MAINTENANCE AND STEWARDSHIP PROGRAMMING IN THE PARK, HIRING MORE SEASONAL STAFF THAN ANY PREVIOUS SEASON TO ASSIST WITH PARK MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP PROGRAMMING. THIS IS THE ALLIANCE'S PRIMARY MISSION AND INCLUDES LITTER CLEANUP, PARK IMPROVEMENTS, AND HABITAT RESTORATION.Expenses $329,640
- PUBLIC PROGRAMS THE ALLIANCE SUPPORTS PUBLIC PROGRAMMING IN FMCP THAT RANGES FROM GRANTS FOR PUBLIC ART INSTALLATIONS, CULTURAL EVENTS LIKE FREE CONCERTS, AND HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAMMING. - VISION 2050: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND PLANNING FIRST STEP IN MULTI-YEAR PLANNING PROCESS TO PRODUCE A NEW MASTER PLAN FOR FLUSHING MEADOWS CORONA PARK AND SECURE SUPPORT FROM POLICYMAKERS AND PRIVATE STAKEHOLDERS. THE FIRST PHASE WAS A POLICY-DRIVEN RESEARCH REPORT FROM THE CENTER FOR AN URBAN FUTURE AND SUPPORTED BY PRIVATE GRANTS. THE ALLIANCE ALSO CONDUCTED A FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR AN URBAN GARDEN IN THE PARK. PREPARATIONS AND GRANTS ARE UNDERWAY FOR FURTHER PLANNING IN 2026.Expenses $50,000
