Our vision is to not only provide dorm essentials but educate students on transitioning from high school to college, in hopes of improving the graduation rate of US freshmen students. Our primary award areas are the greater Hampton Roads region, Historic Triangle, Fairfax County Virginia. However, students apply from all over VA and the country.

Program accomplishments

  • Dorm Essentials Award Program provides over $500 in dorm room essentials per recipient. These awards are designed to reduce the financial burden of college and help students begin their academic journey with confidence. Dorm Fairies purchases items directly from each awardees approved store registry. Scholarship information is shared with high schools throughout our service area, and students apply through our website. We impacted 26 students in 2025. Since 2019 we have impacted 116 students.
    Expenses $17,763 · grants $17,763
  • Dorm Dash Dorm Supply Drive & College Readiness program was created to serve students who apply for our awards but cannot be funded due to limited resources. Through this initiative, we provide students with dorm room essential baskets and a gift. In addition to material support, Dorm Dash includes an educational component to help students and parents navigate the college transition. Dorm essential baskets include items such as laundry baskets, Brita water bottles, first aid kits, desk lamps, surge protectors, sheet and towel sets, mattress pads, command strips, hangers, laundry bags, and shower caddies. Each student also receives an additional gift. We impacted 56 students in 2025. Since 2024 we have impacted 88 students.

  • Non-traditional Student Awards program program helps non-traditional students have support for their college transition. We define non-traditional students as those who are starting college in the spring, students that attended community college and are now transferring to a 4-year college or a student that has a personal challenge attending college. We award the students a $250 gift card to use towards dorm or apartment essentials. We impacted 4 students in 2025. Since 2022 we have impacted 11 students.
