Mission

To overcome bias, misunderstanding and polarization through immersive education and training that makes vivid our common humanity. Through innovative uses of sacred space and architecture, we help people, in particular faith communities, approach and engage differing worldviews.

Program accomplishments

  • The Interreligious Communities Project (ICP) brings together religious and spiritual communities to visit one anothers sacred spaces, learn about each other, extend hospitality and equip themselves with some of the tools of faith dialogue. In addition to building an interfaith community, ICP is designed to engage religious diversity and to widen participation in interreligious activity, education and skill across each geographic context. During the fiscal year, Shared Sacred Spaces implemented a scaled, volunteer-driven model, giving it the ability to develop volunteers as interfaith leaders, coach and grow localized and sustained leadership, and bring the program to a greater number of people.
    Expenses $191,773

  • The Architecture of Faith is an interreligious understanding and religious literacy project with multiple digital elements. The core is a set of documentary films exploring the five major faith traditions through the initial lens of their architecture or culture. It is complemented by an online set of learning modules which will serve higher education, faith communities, and the general public.
