Program accomplishments

  • Mind Central is a design concept for a mental health mobile app. The concept includes various activities and features designed with the goal of helping users deal with stress and anxiety through creative expression, promoting mindfulness and developing healthy practices. CCSN has a small team of computer programmers working to develop the mental health mobile app for the App Store using the programming language Swift. CCSN has also been developing a web prototype platform using Wix. The web prototype allows testers to experience the mobile app and allows CCSN to experiment with features in consideration of being added to the mobile app. The Mind Central team has 8 people on it, but a number of people have been involved with the project as consultants and advisors. The project is ongoing and is being beta tested by a high school computer science class with approximately 15 students.
  • CCSN is working to help people of all ages understand their identity and then reflect it to their desired communities. CCSN hosted an event called Creating Your Personal Brand, which provided attendees with the opportunity to reflect on their volunteer and personal identity. CCSN collaborated with 2 local graphic designers for this event. First, we created individual vision boards that reflect on past and present volunteer opportunities, skills, interests, passions and hopes for our own and the communities future. Then the graphic designers helped us brand our identity by creating a personality identity card. We created a personal logo which went on the front and then text information that outlined 7 essential aspects making up our identity, including personality, passions and interests, skills and hobbies, interpersonal, resources, help & support and experiences. There were around 25 participants to the event. We have added this tool to our website making it available to the public.
  • Home Repair Support Network was assembled to give people more agency in caring for their homes. The team performs home repair projects. We are a group of people with a variety of skills in home repair - from complete novice to experts with many years of experience. We provide opportunities for people to learn, to teach and people at all different levels are welcome to participate. Our team meets when someone needs assistance on a project and there are opportunities to teach and provide mentorship. The projects ore open to anyone with the time and willingness to join that day. Those that have tools bring them, those that don't bring their helping hands. The home repair support team consists of 10 people ranging from new homeowner to an expert construction manager. This program is volunteer driven, homeowner's pay for the materials associated with their project and CCSN provides administration, volunteer coordination and assists with project management.
