VOLTA MUSIC FOUNDATIONS MISSION IS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES THE OPPORTUNITY TO ADVANCE THEIR MUSICAL CAREERS THROUGH A VARIETY OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND TALENT DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES.
Program accomplishments
- LINK UP THE LINK UP PROGRAM IS A DYNAMIC MUSIC EDUCATION INITIATIVE DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS IN TITLE 1 SCHOOLS ACROSS BROWARD AND PALM BEACH COUNTIES. VOLTA PARTNERS WITH CARNEGIE HALL'S WEILL MUSIC INSTITUTE TO OFFER THIS PROGRAM TO STUDENTS IN GRADES 3-5, FOSTERING THEIR MUSICAL TALENTS AND ENHANCING THEIR OVERALL EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE. PARTICIPANTS ENGAGE IN SINGING, RECORDER PLAYING, AND COLLABORATIVE PERFORMANCES WITH PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS, CULMINATING IN A SYMPHONY CONCERT BY VOLTA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA. VOLTA PROVIDES ESSENTIAL RESOURCES AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS FOR EDUCATORS, FREE INSTRUMENTS, TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT AND AN INTERACTIVE CONCERT. LINK UP AIMS TO TRANSFORM MUSIC EDUCATION, ADDRESS FUNDING GAPS, AND PROMOTE A LASTING APPRECIATION FOR THE ARTS IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES. THE PROGRAM NURTURES CREATIVITY, BUILDS SELF-CONFIDENCE, AND FOSTERS COMMUNITY COHESION THROUGH THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE OF MUSIC. OF CLIENTS SERVED: 3500 STUDENTS/PROVIDED SCHOOL YEAR (AUGUST-APRIL)/3 CONCERTS A YEAR AFTERSCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM THE VOLTA AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM PROVIDES FREE, HIGH-QUALITY MUSIC EDUCATION AND ENRICHMENT TO UNDERSERVED YOUTH IN BROWARD COUNTY, FOCUSING ON STUDENTS IN GRADES 2-5. THE PROGRAM OFFERS GROUP MUSIC INSTRUCTION ON STRING INSTRUMENTS AND ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE. WITH EXPERIENCED TEACHING ARTISTS AND STRONG COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, VOLTA AIMS TO REMOVE BARRIERS OF COST AND ACCESS, SUPPORTING STUDENTS' ARTISTIC, ACADEMIC, AND PERSONAL GROWTH. THE PROGRAM NOW OPERATES AT MULTIPLE COMMUNITY CENTER SITES, BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS AND TITLE I SCHOOLS. OF CLIENTS SERVED: 250 STUDENTS/PROVIDED SEPTEMBER-MAY/2 CONCERTS A YEAR LATIN AMERICAN EXCHANGE THE LATIN AMERICAN EXCHANGE PROGRAM OFFERS YOUNG MUSICIANS IN LATIN AMERICA OPPORTUNITIES FOR CULTURAL EXCHANGE AND STUDY ABROAD. PROFESSORS FROM UNIVERSITIES AND CONSERVATORIES PROVIDE FREE MASTERCLASSES, WORKSHOPS, AND GROUP LESSONS IN VARIOUS LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES. THE PROGRAM ALSO SUPPORTS LATIN AMERICAN STUDENTS IN STUDYING AT U.S. MUSIC CONSERVATORIES, ASSISTING THEM WITH APPLICATIONS, AUDITIONS, AND VISA PROCESSES. ADDITIONALLY, THESE STUDENTS OFTEN INTERN IN VOLTA'S PROGRAMS, CONTRIBUTING TO THE COMMUNITY AND SUPPORTING OTHER STUDENTS' GROWTH. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS, CONCERT SERIES, AND INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS IN ANGUILLA AND THE CAYMAN ISLANDS.
