Mission

Primos empowers students and their families to tackle any challenge through mentoring and exposure opportunities. Our vision is to create a community of young Latinos ready to impact the world positively!

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • Primos Dallas (Primos) is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit mentoring organization based in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas that pairs young Latino students with Latino professionals. Established in 2018, Primos' mission is to empower students and their families to tackle any challenge through mentoring and exposure opportunities. Primos' goal is to help students determine their post-high school path whether that path leads to college, vocational training, or career entrance. Primos supports students in two ways: mentoring and college/career training. Primos' mentees participate in a one-on-one yearlong mentoring relationship. Because relation and family are central to the Latino family experience, Primos builds a family foundation into its mentoring experience, inviting the family unit to become a part of the mentoring experience. Focusing on family-like relationships allows the students to thrive in many different environments, while also allowing the mentor to connect in a meaningful way. Primos currently serves 85 students in our mentoring program. Beyond mentoring, Primos also provides students and their families with college and career training. This training includes workshops, links to internships, college visits, and corporate site visits. Workshop topics include goal setting, networking, financial aid, preparing strong resumes, interview skills, LinkedIn development, and career exposure. Workshops help students and their families to build a foundation for college entrance, workforce development, and college completion. Additionally, Primos provided hands-on experience for students by visiting college campuses across Texas such as Texas State University, the University of Houston, and Texas A&M University. Primos also takes students to corporate offices where they can learn first-hand about a variety of career paths from such companies as: MoneyGram, VistraCorp, and the Hall Group. This combined effort of mentoring and college/career training allows students to develop their interests and find a post-high school path.
