Program accomplishments

  • DURING THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR, SOCIAL JUSTICE SCHOOL ACHIEVED REMARKABLE MILESTONES THAT EXEMPLIFY OUR COMMITMENT TO ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE. GROWTH TO PROFICIENCY SURPASSED DC MIDDLE SCHOOL AVERAGES IN BOTH ELA & MATH. TOGETHER WE ARE PROVING THAT LOVE, LEARNING, AND LIBERATION MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE! SCHOLAR-ACTIVISTS IN OUR GUARANTEED TOGETHER PROGRAM POSTED HIGHER MATH SCALE SCORES COMPARED TO THEIR PEERS, UNDERSCORING OUR MODEL AS A DRIVER OF BOTH ACADEMIC GROWTH AND ECONOMIC MOBILITY. SOCIAL JUSTICE SCHOOL EARNED 100% OF THE ASPIRE POINTS FOR BOTH CAPE-BASED MATH GROWTH MEASURES (MGP AND GROWTH TO PROFICIENCY) FOR ALL STUDENT GROUPS! EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE: SOCIAL JUSTICE SCHOOL EARNED 100% OF THE ASPIRE POINTS FOR 15 OF 49 UNIQUE ASPIRE STUDENT GROUP/MEASURE OUTCOMES - THAT'S OVER 30% OF ALL POSSIBLE OUTCOMES! SOCIAL JUSTICE SCHOOL IMPROVED IN 45 OF 49 UNIQUE ASPIRE OUTCOMES - MEANING 90% OF STUDENT GROUP LEVEL MEASURES IMPROVED FROM SCHOOL YEAR 2023-2024 TO SCHOOL YEAR 2024-2025. CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM ALSO DROPPED DRAMATICALLY ACROSS ALL STUDENT GROUPS, WITH EVERY GROUP SEEING A DECREASE OF MORE THAN 20 PERCENTAGE POINTS. TO PUT IT SIMPLY, WE ARE NOT JUST GROWING; WE ARE ACCELERATING LEARNING FOR ALL SCHOLAR ACTIVISTS, ESPECIALLY THOSE FURTHEST FROM OPPORTUNITY. SOCIAL JUSTICE SCHOOL WAS OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZED AS A STRONG SCHOOL UNDER THE ASPIRE FRAMEWORK (A LEVEL 2 SCHOOL FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2024-2025). THESE ACCOMPLISHMENTS REFLECT THE DEDICATION AND HARD WORK OF OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF, AS WE CONTINUE TO STRIVE FOR BOTH ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AND MEANINGFUL SOCIAL CHANGE.
