Mission

OUR MISSION IS TO SUPPORT THEATRICAL EDUCATION AT ST. PAUL CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL BY PROVIDING RESOURCES THAT ALLOW STUDENTS TO EXPERIENCE, PARTICIPATE IN, AND GROW THROUGH LIVE THEATER OPPORTUNITIES BEYOND THE CLASSROOM.

990-EZ for the year ended October 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • THE CENTRAL THEATRE BOOSTERS ARE THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF SUPPORT FOR THE THEATRE DIRECTOR EMILY GILL AND THE THEATRE PROGRAM AT SAINT PAUL CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL. THE PROGRAM EMBODIES THE SCHOOL MISSION BY PROVIDING AN INCLUSIVE, SUPPORTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT INVOLVING A LARGE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHILE PRODUCING HIGH-LEVEL THEATRE PERFORMANCES. EMILY GILL FOSTERS THE DEVELOPMENT OF CRITICAL LIFE SKILLS INCLUDING COMMUNICATION, INDEPENDENCE, ORGANIZATION, AND RESPONSIBILITY ALONGSIDE THEATRE AND TECHNICAL SKILLS. THE ADMINISTRATION AT CENTRAL STRONGLY SUPPORTS THE ARTS AND WORKS CLOSELY WITH THE THEATRE AND MUSIC STAFF AND THEIR RESPECTIVE BOOSTER ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE PROGRAM PRIORITIZES STUDENT LEADERSHIP AND INVOLVEMENT OF 9TH-12TH GRADERS FOR EVERY ASPECT OF THE THREE PRODUCTIONS PERFORMED EVERY YEAR: A FALL MUSICAL, WINTER CABARET, AND SPRING PLAY. STUDENTS WORK WITH ADULT MENTORS AND BY THE END THEY INDEPENDENTLY RUN EACH SHOW. OVER 100 STUDENTS TYPICALLY PARTICIPATE IN THE FALL MUSICAL AS EITHER ACTORS, TECH CREW, OR OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS. THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, STAGE MANAGERS, PIT, AND PIT CONDUCTOR WERE ENTIRELY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AS WELL. THE SPRING PLAY TYPICALLY INVOLVES 50-70 STUDENTS DEPENDING ON THE PRODUCTION, WITH THE STUDENT DIRECTED CABARET INVOLVING 30-50 STUDENTS. THE BOOSTERS THIS YEAR HAVE COORDINATED STUDENT EVENTS LIKE POST-SHOW STUDENT THANK-YOU NOTE WRITING TO EXTEND APPRECIATION TO VOLUNTEERS AND DONORS AND FACILITATED THEATRE STUDENT INVOLVEMENT IN BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT AND SCHOOL PROSPECTIVE STUDENT EVENTS. THE BOOSTER BOARD HAS SUCCESSFULLY INCREASED THE VOLUNTEER BASE THREEFOLD SINCE THE PANDEMIC AND EXPANDED FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES SUCH AS LOBBY FLOWER SALES. THIS YEAR WE SUCCESSFULLY GREW COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIP FOR PROGRAMS, EXPANDED FUNDRAISING EFFORTS AND MET OUR GOAL OF PURCHASING NEW MICROPHONES, AND HAVE MADE PROGRESS IN CREATING SUSTAINABLE REPEATABLE PROCESSES FOR THE THEATRE PROGRAM THAT WILL CONTINUE BEYOND THE CURRENT BOARD'S TENURE.
