Mission
Cultivating Families facilitates charitable activities to benefit children in or from the foster care system. We equip congregations from many faith traditions to meet the needs of children from the foster care system. Cultivating Families is fortunate to have dedicated volunteers to support our programs. In 2024, the value of program volunteer hours totaled an estimated $48,360.
Program accomplishments
- Awareness and Education Activities include information presentations, learn & serve projects, parent and faith community trauma-informed care training, and support groups for families and children impacted by foster care. All activities are essential for the success of families caring for children from foster care. There is something for all who want to help, whether planning to bring a child into their home or not. In 2024, 426 volunteers served 181 families and children, and an additional 624 people attended awareness information presentations. All awareness volunteers learned what foster care is, why families and children may be in local foster care, and ways they can make a positive difference in their lives.Expenses $12,163
- Awareness through Prayer is a community-wide prayer initiative that aims to cover every child in local foster care in prayer. Currently prayer volunteer packets are available in Christian, Jewish, and Muslim versions. Each packet includes basic information about local foster care and ten children identified by their age, gender at birth, and birth month to cover in prayer. This program raises awareness and increases curiosity about more ways to help. In 2024, 88 volunteers covered 881 children in prayer.Expenses $2,218
