Mission

Revitalize downtown stayton mission is to foster a quality downtown core that is economically strong, accessible and safe. This includes working to create historic downtown stayton as a gathering place for families, neighbors, and visitors to enjoy hometown hospitality, specialty shopping experiences, unique family activities and cultural events.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • The Promotion Group plans events to increase foot traffic in our downtown businesses, provide fun events for families, neighbors and visitors, and increase awareness of our organization. The promotions committee oversaw five events: Walk of Hearts, TGIF Fridays, Farmers Market, Downtown Trick or Treat,Holiday Fest and first annual golf tournament. These activities bring in tourists to the Stayton area.
    Expenses $9,382
  • The Design Group works to Improve at the appearance and function of the downtown to make it more user friendly. The fourth tier of OMS is the Organizational Group. This year we focused on meeting attendance to increase our board membership.
  • Revitalize Downtown Stayton (RDS) is an Oregon Main Street (OMS) Affiliate Member. OMS, part of the Oregon heritage in Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, is designed to assist with the revitalization of traditional downtown and historic commercial district, promote economic development and encourage historic preservations. RDS wrote its 2022 Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant to save the Hobson-Gehlen Building, ca. 1885. This building is the oldest wooden commercial structure in Marion County, Oregon. The $200,000 grant was awarded to RDS and the building renovation was completed in 2024. The grant period is from 2022 to 2025 and its focus is on making the building safe with steel moment frames and finishing all of the exterior including: siding, trim, windows, doors, paint and a new roof. With the owners match, over $300,000 will be spent and put into the economy. While currently the number of people benefiting is under 50, when completed with a commercial space and three bedroom apartment in the back, it will benefit the over 25,000 person market of Stayton and the surrounding area. Grant writing is a part of the Economic Vitality Groups focus, one of the four tiers of OMS organizations. The Economic Vitality Group works to provide tools to the merchants in our focus area from working to locate and complete grants to arranging trainings on business topics. We look for input from merchants to improve the effectiveness of both existing and startup companies. Economic Vitality also wrote a grant for a local business to update it's exterior with paint, a new awning and exterior lighting. This Pacific Power grant was awarded to RDS and spent on Mick and Moms Pub and Eatery, also with a benefit to our 25,000 market. RDS was also recipient of Community improvement grant from the city of stayton where funding was used to install public bike racks and dog waste stations.
