- IN 2025, RADIANT EARTH CONTINUED TO EXPAND ACCESS TO OPEN GEOSPATIAL DATA AND DEEPEN COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, ACHIEVING SIGNIFICANT MILESTONES THROUGH SOURCE COOPERATIVE, THE CLOUD-NATIVE GEOSPATIAL FORUM (CNG), AND A GROWING PORTFOLIO OF PARTNERSHIPS.SOURCE COOPERATIVE REACHED A MAJOR MILESTONE, GROWING TO OVER 3 PETABYTES OF DATA, 6 TIMES THE VOLUME HOSTED AT THE END OF 2024. THIS GROWTH WAS DRIVEN IN PART BY CONTRIBUTIONS OF CLIMATE DATA AND COLLECTIONS FROM PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS, REFLECTING SOURCE'S EVOLVING ROLE AS A TRUSTED HOME FOR HIGH-VALUE DATASETS. THE COMMUNITY ALSO GREW SUBSTANTIALLY: BY OCTOBER, SOURCE COUNTED 3,785 INDIVIDUAL USERS AND 133 PUBLISHING ORGANIZATIONS REPRESENTING AN 83% INCREASE IN PUBLISHING ORGANIZATIONS. MONTHLY REQUEST VOLUME SURGED FROM 3 MILLION TO AN AVERAGE OF 150 MILLION, A 50-FOLD INCREASE. DATA HOSTED ON SOURCE IS NOW REFERENCED IN OVER 750 PLACES IN CODE ON GITHUB, A TESTAMENT TO ITS GROWING ADOPTION BY THE DEVELOPER AND RESEARCH COMMUNITIES. TO FURTHER IMPROVE USABILITY, WE PARTNERED WITH DEVELOPMENT SEED TO LAUNCH AN ENTIRELY NEW FRONT END FOR SOURCE AND CONTINUED WORKING WITH COLLABORATORS TO BUILD VIEWERS FOR PARQUET, CSV, AND PMTILES DATA FORMATS, MAKING SOURCE EVEN MORE ACCESSIBLE TO USERS ACROSS SKILL LEVELS. WE ALSO LAUNCHED THE GREAT DATA PRODUCTS PODCAST, FEATURING CONVERSATIONS WITH DATA PRACTITIONERS ABOUT THE CRAFT AND ERGONOMICS OF DATA.CNG HOSTED ITS INAUGURAL IN-PERSON CONFERENCE, BRINGING TOGETHER CLOSE TO 250 PARTICIPANTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF THE GEOSPATIAL INDUSTRY. EXPERTS AT NVIDIA, META, GOOGLE, PLANET, THE WORLD BANK, THE NEW YORK TIMES, AND OTHERS USING GEOSPATIAL DATA AND AI TO SOLVE SOME OF THE WORLD'S MOST PRESSING CHALLENGES WERE ALL PRESENT. THE RESPONSE WAS OVERWHELMING, WITH 95% OF ATTENDEES EXPRESSING ENTHUSIASM FOR A FOLLOW-UP EVENT, AND WE ARE PLANNING A SECOND CONFERENCE FOR OCTOBER 2026. WE CONVENED A REMARKABLE GROUP OF ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING THE ADVANCED RESEARCH + INVENTION AGENCY, X, THE MOONSHOT FACTORY, NVIDIA, EARTH GENOME, [C]WORTHY, PLACE, OPEN CLIMATE FIX, CYBERCOLOMBIA, ASTERISK LABS, AND THE DATA FOUNDATION, FOR A GATHERING FOCUSED ON CLIMATE DATA PRODUCTION, GOVERNANCE, SHARING, SUSTAINABLE FUNDING MODELS, AND AI.
