THE SCHOOL HAS GAINED NATIONAL AND LOCAL RECOGNITION FOR ITS ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT. IN 2016, THE SCHOOL BECAME THE FIRST CHARTER SCHOOL IN THE BRONX TO SUCCESSFULLY OPEN A NEW FACILITY WITH A $17,750,000 MUNICIPAL BOND FINANCING ISSUED BY BUILD NYC. THE SCHOOL IS OPERATING IN A 28.500 SQUARE FOOT, THREE-STORY, STATE OF THE ART FACILITY THAT CONTAINS 17 CLASSROOMS AND NINE FLEX ROOMS TO SUPPORT STUDENT AND FACULTY ACTIVITIES AND WITH THE CAPACITY TO ACCOMMODATE APPROXIMATELY 400 STUDENTS.FROM 2014 THROUGH 2017, THE SCHOOL PLACED IN THE TOP 1% OF HIGH SCHOOLS AND WAS THE RECIPIENT OF A BRONZE AWARD FROM THE US NEWS & WORLD REPORT. DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE PANDEMIC, THE SCHOOL RECEIVED RECOGNITION FOR BEST HIGH SCHOOLS NATIONALLY AND BEST CHARTER SCHOOL IN 2020 AND 2021. THE SCHOOL HAS ACHIEVED AN AVERAGE GRADUATION RATE OF 95% OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS. THE MAJORITY OF GRADUATES MATRICULATED INTO A 4-YEAR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. THE RECENT RELEASE OF THE NYS REPORT CARD ON MARCH 10,2022 DEMONSTRATES THAT THE SCHOOL ACHIEVED A 91% GRADUATION RATE FAR EXCEEDING THE RATE OF OTHER SCHOOL THAT RANGED FROM 0%-52%. IN 2020 THE SCHOOL RECEIVED AN AECN PLANNING GRANT FROM $975,000.00 FROM THE WALTON FAMILY FOUNDATION IN ORDER TO SUPPORT THE SCHOOL'S PLANS TO EXPAND DOWN TO A MIDDLE SCHOOL. SUNY CSI APPROVED THE EXPANSION ON JUNE 16, 2021. MIDDLE SCHOOL WILL BE LAUNCHED WHEN THE PERMANENT BUILDING IS COMPLETED IN 2025.
