Mission

To collaborate, educate and advocate to promote a knowledgeable and well-supported workforce that prioritizes early relationships as the foundation for healthy development of infants, young children and their families.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • In 2024, RIAIMH's mission was to educate, elevate and engage a diverse workforce, and to continue to integrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) principles into our governance and program operations structures. In addition to maintaining diverse representation on the Board, we intentionally integrated issues of social, economic and racial justice within all learning opportunities. In 2024, we brought the infant/family workforce together for: a) Making Connections Conference (May 2024), "3Ps of Protection, Promotion, and Preservation:Centering Anti-racism and Cultural Assets in Children's Healthy Development" attended by 119 participants; b) Community Conversation Series, "IECMH Trauma Informed Care: Honoring Families, Communities, and Cultures" (six 2-hour sessions attended by a total of 404 participants); and c) CARE Group (Community Advocates for Racial Equity), a 16 hour learning collaborative (Cohorts 6 and 7 with 12 and 13 participants, respectively). In addition to core programming, we provided professional development programs including (but not limited to), "Foundations for Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH)" in both Early Intervention and Early Care and Education settings. We offered 2 "intensive" learning opportunities to center community-based ways of healing including, "CARE-ing for the Workforce (22 hours) and "Reflection in Action: Parent Engagement through Touchpoints " (28 hours), and we partnered with colleagues at Boston Medical Center to prepare a 3rd intensive, "Honrando y Elevando la Diversidad de la Communidad Latinoamericano" to begin in Jan 2025. We offered Reflective Supervision training for Early Intervention supervisors and a 6-session (12 hours) Community ofPractice Case Conferencing Learning Collaborative for Early Intervention clinical leaders. We continued to provide direct Reflective Consultation for the cross-sector workforce within several community-based provider organizations to deepen IECMH awareness, knowledge, and skills. We continued our partnership with RI's Care Transformation Collaborative to provide project planning, IECMH case conferencing, and reflective consultation within pediatric practices in RI. Finally, we continued to support cross sector providers to earn and/or maintain IECMH Endorsement credentialing, and by the end of 2024, there were 67 IECMH-endorsed professionals in RI with an additional 37 in progress for earning the credential.
