Mission
We are dedicated to helping children orphaned by AIDS in rural Zimbabwe. We provide direct support for the children's education, and we also provide economic empowerment to villagers in the communities where the children live.We believe in a world where every child should have an adequate education and live a healthy and dignified life. We believe that this allows children to fully express their gifts and talents and to contribute to the world. We support orphans and other disadvantaged children by paying their tuition and providing school supplies. We assist schools by building libraries. We provide micro grants to the care givers of these students that allow them to start cottage businesses to help support their families with their tuition. We recently started collecting computers to start compputer labs for our students.
Program accomplishments
- in 2021 despite COVID challenges, Munhu supported 400 students in our education program. Of these students, 250 are primary school students. We did not add new students to the program. We supported 50 students at secondary school level. 5 students are at university/ college level. Our education program has been successful and we have 12 college graduates. In 2023 we had 2 university students graduate. Below is a letter from one of our 2023 graduate:Dear MUNHU Inc. I hope this letter find you in good health and high spirits. My name is Tanyaradzwa Duwick Kasosera and I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your incredible support and guidance during my time as a beneficiary of your esteemed organization. For the past few months I struggled to find the perfect words to express my gratitude and hopefully this letter will be enough to give you a picture of how I really feel and how deep your involvement in my life has been. When my mother passed on I was sure that her passing was the end of my opportunity to go to college and to follow my dreams and reach my full potential. Munhu Inc was not just a sponsorship but an answered prayer. A prayer I said myself after passing my A'levels and a prayer that my mother left for us written on a piece of paper. I am grateful for your support and I thank you from the deepest part of my heart, not only for supporting me financially but for identifying my potential and investing in it. You gave a great nudge to my confidence and hope. The University of Zimbabwe welcomed me in 2019, marking the beginning of my quest to find a career path and a platform to help me discover and develop my identity and passion. My first two years saw me trying to find my feet so I can fit into the new environment, it was not easy but I managed and it all worked out. My fourth year taught me a lot, I learnt how to embrace change and grow through it, how to work with the little I have to get the most that I dream of and to remember who I am, what I stand for and where I am going in life. Now I stand a chance to find work and earn a living, I am positive that one day I will get my family back together again under one roof. I see a bright future ahead of me despite the dull phases and this positivity would not have been a part of my character if it was not for you. You made it possible. The knowledge and experiences I gained through this educational journey have been priceless and have shaped me into the person I am today. I came out of the gates of the University of Zimbabwe a victor, despite everything and because of everything. I would love to extend my heartfelt appreciate not only to Munhu Inc's board members but to each and every one of the generous donors who make this sponsorship program possible. Beyond the financial aid, the mentorship and guidance I got from Munhu Inc through Ms Gara helped me navigate through challenges, develop essential survival skill and fostered a strong sense of positivity and self-belief. The journey has been a life changing experience and from it all, I also got to have an amazing mentor and an aunt I have always wished for. And I believe I speak for all my brothers and sisters under your benefitiary when I say that Munhu is rekindling dreams and hope as well as giving us the chance to become whatever it is we dream to become. This is the best gift anyone could ever wish for. Recently I have been working on some projects like #KeepThemWarm, an initiative to provide warm clothing for our fellow brothers and sisters living in forester homes. I'm pursuing this brainchild with the aid and facilitation of Cross Culture under Celebration Center. Munhu Inc inspired me to have such ideas. Thank you, you will always be a part of me forever and one of the best parts of my story. You are surely making the world a better place. #HelpingOneChildAtATime.Expenses $39,090 · grants $36,140
