Mission

We operate an open-registration baseball program for 13 to 18 year old Arlington County residents and neighboring communities, with 150 to 250 registered players and 3 different levels of play based on age and skill level. Registered players may also try out for allstar teams that play in the Babe Ruth Baseball tournament tracks. The primary season is spring into summer, coordinated with local high school baseball schedules. We also have a less competitive fall program for 13 and 14 year old players that introduces them to the full size baseball field. We also rent indoor space during the winter for indoor hitting and pitching training.

Program accomplishments

  • The core program is the open-registration program for 13-18 year old players. There are 3-4 leagues, depending on the number and ages of registrants. Each league involves different ages or skill levels. The 14-15 year old players are in two leagues, depending on whether they are also playing for their high school baseball programs or not. The program and these teams are chartered with National Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. in New Jersey, and our all-star teams at each level participate in district, state and regional Babe Ruth sponsored tournaments. In 2109 our 15-year old all star team won the Southeast Region Babe Ruth tournament and went to the 15 year old Babe Ruth World Series.
    Expenses $94,864
  • Through April 2024, we also operated a select or travel baseball program made up of registrants who choose to try out, and upon selection commit to pay additional fees to pay coaches and to cover travel to tournaments in Northern Virginia and elsewhere in the mid-Atlantic. This program, with teams at the different age levels, we call the Arlington Senators. This program had paid coaches, a competitive fall schedule, and winter in-door training. However, we ended this program after its spring 2024 season, for reasons explained on Schedule O, regarding Part I, Line 20.
    Expenses $17,212
