Mission
To provide opportunities for the Washington State Chapter of the NAIOP and its members to engage in service projects to benefit nonprofit organizations and public institutions that improve the quality of life in the state, expand diversity and inclusion efforts in commercial real estate development, and provide financial support to students and academic institutions in the field of commercial real estate.
Program accomplishments
- Community Enhancement Projects - Since 1990, members have made financial contributions, donated construction materials, and given hours of their time and labor to make NAIOP's community enhancement projects successful. Past projects have included Ryther Child Center, where we provided painting, fence building, new playground, and shed construction for troubled kids and teens trying to rebuild their lives; Des Moines State Beach Park included construction of salmon observation platforms and a local waterway; and the construction of fences at an area park, and the restoration of the Senior Center; and Seattle Children's Home which included renovation of the gymnasium and teen center for troubled youths.Expenses $51,904
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) - established an initiative in 2017 with the mission to build and develop a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture. The DEI Committee works to ensure that chapter programming, events and other activities proportionally reflect our diverse market, with a focus on acting as a resource and leveraging partnerships to attract and develop diverse talent industry-wide, including a summer internship program.Expenses $11,175
- Real Estate Challenge - this unique competition features teams from the University of Washington, the University of British Columbia, and Portland State University; each vying for bragging rights and the prestige associated with the mastery of the event. Students from each university's real estate program will compete from mid-January through late March to create and present a development proposal for a multi-faceted and challenging real-world project.Expenses $543
