Program accomplishments

  • During 2023 as we were exiting the covid mandates many people still did "work from home and "school from home". This especially impacted low income families as many of them do not have computers at home, or Internet access. In 2023 we saw a constant demand in our output of refurbished computers as a number of other organizations and foundations came to us to purchase, get or provide computer hardware for their clients to try to meet their needs. As a testament to our success and quality of refurbishing computers, even the State of Hawaii was purchasing refurbished Laptops from us for their projects, classes and training sessions. Overall, our total output of refurbished computers maintained at 2,000 computers in a single year. Many computers going to families with multiple people, and we estimate we served roughly 6,000 people with these computers.

  • During 2023 several non profit organizations hired us to revamp their computer networks, phone systems and other technology. This generates revenue for us, it gives us the opportunity to provide real world hands on training to our volunteers, It enforces our reputation of being experts in technology and the ability to train our volunteers, and it assists other non profits in upgrading their technology and typically dropping their expenses by implementing newer technology and getting rid of the old stuff. In just ONE example, we helped another non profit organization save roughly $2,300 a MONTH by converting their offices to an upgraded computer network, installing fiber internet services - removing the old legacy DSL, and converting their phone system from a proprietary system over to an industry standard VoIP phone system. Once we completed our project with them, their new monthly expenses were only $425 a month for a system that is drastically better than what they had before. This helped the organization cut expenses and redirect that saved money to other projects that needed it.

  • In August of 2023 Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, experienced a disaster of a fire that wiped out the entire town. Over 13,000 residents lost everything with the fire covering over 3 square miles turning everything to ash. Hawaiian Hope Org responded by applying for a grant to get computer equipment to the people so they could communicate with friends and relatives, apply for disaster relief and to help them in any way possible with the technology. The grant was approved and we started sending computers over to the disaster relief centers on Maui. In total we committed to providing 1,300 computers to the the people in need. We have shipped roughly 600 computers and this is an ongoing project.
