Program accomplishments

  • Adoption Program: Bully Up Rescue takes into our care dogs from animal shelters owner who are unable to care for their dogs cruelty cases stray dogs found by the general public or otherwise abandoned dogs and our knowledge about each dogs prior veterinary care or health status is often limited or unknown. Each dog Bully Up Rescue takes in gets an exam with a veterinarian parasite screening and is placed on monthly heartworm flea tick prevention and any other diagnostic procedures as needed: spay neuter and any other treatment or surgeries as needed vaccinations medications microchip nail trim as needed teeth cleaning or extraction and any other treatments as needed emergency treatments or surgeries as needed tumor biopsy or removal and any other treatment as needed routine maintenance check-ups. The dog is then placed into an volunteer foster home placed on our website and social media outlets and advertised as adoptable. The dog goes to adoption events in the community until he or she is permanently adopted by a family. Bully Up Rescue makes every attempt to keep a close relationship with adopters following up several times per year to keep track of how the dog is doing in their new home and hosting a quarterly pack walk where adopters and the general public can come to socialize their dogs and check in. Providing each rescue dog with proper veterinary and medical care ensures a healthier and happier life and permanent adoption placement. Nineteen dogs received veterinary care determined by their individual needs prior to adoption in 2024.
    Expenses $35,809
  • Canine Behavior and Training Program: Bully Up Rescue relies on volunteer foster homes to care for our dogs while awaiting permanent adoptive homes. Bully Up Rescue makes every attempt to ensure the dog and families safety prior to placement into the volunteer foster home. Once a dog is able to decompress and feel more comfortable their temperament and or behavior can change and is one of the leading reasons dogs are returned to shelters adding to the shelters already overpopulation. Bully Up Rescue and or the volunteer foster home may determine the dog requires further assistance than that foster home can provide or that training would greatly benefit the foster dogs permanent adoption placement. Bully Up Rescue seeks the assistance of Dog Trainers Board and Train programs for various reasons including temperament medical adjustment lack of basic obedience or other issues that may arise. A board and train helps the rescued dog decompress allows assessment of how best to manage their needs provides an outline of what would be required for an foster and or adopter. Proper management and training greatly improves the dogs chances of being adopted and ensures a successful placement into a permanent home. Seven dogs required board training and were able to be placed into adoptive homes upon completion.
    Expenses $22,772
  • Foster Support Program: Bully Up Rescue is a volunteer foster-based rescue and each dog rescued is placed into a volunteer foster home. Bully Up Rescue covers the cost of all necessary expenses and essentials needed to care for that recue dog during their stay in that foster home. The dogs we rescue come into Bully Up Rescues care lacking basic items needed or required to further or enrich their lives outside of veterinary care. Bully Up Rescue provides each volunteer foster home food that meets their foster dogs dietary needs crate blanket bed leash collar treats toys and enrichment. While every attempt is made to find a permanent adopter in a reasonable amount of time some foster dogs stay in foster care for extended periods of time due to various reasons: lack of adoption rehabilitation medical or other. We continue to provide food and all basic needed items for that foster dog during their stay in foster care. Without the assistance of volunteer-foster homes our mission would not be possible as we do not have a facility. In 2024 Bully Up Rescue maintained a network of nine volunteer foster homes providing safety enrichment and care for dogs while awaiting adoption.
    Expenses $13,559
