Mission
The primary exempt purpose of Developing Butterflies Big Sister Program is to empower and transform young girls into confident, purpose-driven women by providing mentorship, life skills development, and community engagement opportunities. Through a structured 11-month program modeled after the four stages of a butterfly's development-Egg, Caterpillar, Chrysalis, and Butterfly-participants receive guidance, wisdom, and encouragement. Group sessions, community events, volunteer opportunities, and the unique "Real Talk" open forum are designed to foster personal growth, goal setting, and accountability, equipping them with the tools to navigate life's challenges and achieve their fullest potential.
Program accomplishments
- In the past year, Developing Butterflies Big Sister Program has successfully mentored and guided young girls through its structured 11-month curriculum, inspired by the four developmental stages of a butterfly-Egg, Caterpillar, Chrysalis, and Butterfly. Each stage focuses on specific personal growth areas, including self-awareness, goal setting, community engagement, and leadership development. Key accomplishments include: Empowerment Sessions: Conducted 33 group sessions that focused on character building, self-confidence, and life skills. This included interactive workshops, guest speakers, and community-led discussions. "Real Talk" Forums: Hosted 11 open forum discussions led by the participants, encouraging them to express their challenges, share experiences, and build communication skills in a supportive environment. Community Engagement: Organized volunteer opportunities and community event participation to foster a sense of social responsibility and real-world application of skills learned. Mentorship and Accountability: Implemented structured mentorship and goal-setting activities to help participants track their progress and remain accountable for personal development milestones.
