Program accomplishments

  • The mission of Boys to Men Mentoring Network of Hawaii is to support the healthy development of adolescent boys through consistent mentoring relationships, community connection, and meaningful rites of passage that help young men grow into responsible, compassionate, and accountable adults. Boys to Men Mentoring Network of Hawaii provides evidence-informed group mentoring and personal development programs that support the healthy growth of boys and young men ages 1317. Grounded in local values and Hawaiian culture, our programs integrate mentoring, experiential learning, cultural practices, service, and community connection to strengthen each boys sense of identity, belonging, and responsibility. Through trained adult male mentors, participants engage in regular mentoring circles, school-based mentoring groups, community programs, outdoor experiential activities, and rites-of-passage experiences designed to build self-awareness, emotional intelligence, accountability, resilience, healthy relationships, and leadership skills. The organization partners with schools, families, cultural practitioners, and community organizations throughout Hawaii to provide safe and supportive environments where young men can develop positive life skills and navigate challenges associated with adolescence. Programs emphasize integrity, respect, responsibility, compassion, service, malama, and kuleana while fostering meaningful connections between youth, mentors, families, their communities, and the natural environment. During the 20252026 school year, Boys to Men Mentoring Network of Hawaii operated mentoring groups on Kauai, Oahu, and Hawaii Island. The organization engaged 45 trained volunteer mentors who collectively served more than 100 middle and high school boys through weekly school-based mentoring circles, mentor training, service projects, cultural learning experiences, and the Boys to Men Rites of Passage and Adventure Weekends. Services are provided regardless of a participants family income, helping strengthen outcomes for youth, families, schools, and communities across Hawaii.
