Program accomplishments

  • The organization facilitated the travel of one of its teams to compete in the United States Gaelic Athletic Association's (USGAA) National Championship in Denver, Colorado in August. This included making travel arrangements and providing approximately 20 players with a partial reimbursement for their travel expenses. The short-term objective was to win the three-day Championship, and the team reached the final. The long-term objective was to for the players to gain experience that will serve them in future iterations of the Championship.
  • The organization entered three teams in the United States Gaelic Athletic Association's (USGAA) Northeast Championship. This provided approximately 80 players the opportunity to compete in approximately 6 official games in the sports of hurling and Gaelic football by covering the players' entry fees and insurance and referee's fees. Additional support was given to players by providing them with equipment and conducting weekly or biweekly training sessions throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Each team's objective was to win its respective division of the Northeast Championship in order to progress to the USGAA's National Championship held in Denver, Colorado in August, and one team accomplished this objective. In the long term, each team's objective is to become more competitive within its division and progress to more advanced divisions within the Northeast Championship.
  • The organization ran a youth program that gave approximately 70 youth players between the ages of 5 and 17 the opportunity to play the sports of hurling and Gaelic football throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Weekly training sessions were held during during this time, and the organization hosted a tournament in June in which a total of approximately 70 youth players from teams across the northeast competed. The short and long-term objectives of the youth program were to grow the number of total participants in the program and to compete at the Continental Youth Championships (the largest youth Gaelic sports tournament held outside of Ireland) held in Boston, Massachusetts in July 2024, as well as future iterations of the Continental Youth Championships.
