Mission

Global assistance in environmental conservation, sustainable use of natural resources, and restoration.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • Mulege Sustainable Fisheries Project (MSFP) - EcoWB partners with Fundación Hagamos Más Por Santa Rosalía, A.C. (FHMSR), local fishermen, and other stakeholders on the MSFP, now in its 10th year. The goal of the Project is to improve the sustainability of the small-scale fishery and the welfare of Mulegé residents who depend on the Gulf of California for food and income. No. of people who benefit: 2,000.
    Expenses $41,580 · grants $39,280
  • Nairobi Reservoir Reclamation Project - EcoWB is working with the community-based organization Empower the Community (ETCO) in Nairobi, Kenya to jointly plan and implement several environmental and social improvement projects in the area of the Nairobi Reservoir. ETCO and EcoWB plan to launch a campaign to engage the community in the clean-up of tributaries flowing through the informal settlement of Kibera and into the Reservoir. No. of people who will benefit: 250,000.
    Expenses $6,257 · grants $6,002
  • El Salvador Mangrove Restoration - Over the past two years, EcoWB has worked closely with Asociación Mangle, a community organization based in southeastern El Salvador, to lay the groundwork for a new mangrove restoration initiative. Centered on the richly biodiverse mangrove forests of Jiquilisco Bay, the first phase of the project set out to understand why some areas where mangroves have been lost are more responsive to recovery than others, and how that knowledge can help guide smarter, more effective restoration efforts. This first phase involves spatial analysis of 30 years of satellite data from Jiquilisco Bay, the country's largest and most ecologically significant mangrove forest. EcoWB is currently conducting a second phase of work that will further evaluate hydrological dynamics to identify where restoration is most feasible and what conditions must be in place to ensure success.
    Expenses $15,000
  • Our programs provide a meaningful way for environmental professionals to bring their scientific knowledge and practical expertise to bear for diverse ecosystem challenges. From Cameroon to Costa Rica, EcoWB provides the coordination, guidance and project support that helps partners and teams work effectively together. Our volunteer focused model enables a relatively low programmatic investment to unlock hours of professional scientific and technical expertise. During 2025, EcoWB successfully secured just enough funding to transition from 100% volunteer-led to hiring much-needed part-time programmatic staff. This allowed us to streamline, organize, and operationalize our engagement. We achieved a record number of over 4300 volunteer service hours provided to several projects around the globe.
    Expenses $25,131
