Mission
David's Educational Opportunity Fund provides financial, educational, and mental and physical health support to a select number of students from poor families who live in Quito, Ecuador, as they pursue higher education.
Program accomplishments
- From January 1, 2025, to March 31, 2025, David's Educational Opportunity Fund offered grants directly to the students it supports. The grants included payments to 18 students studying in universities in Quito, Ecuador. They all come from families that lack the economic resources to support them in higher education. Our support is comprehensive, including mental health counseling, medical and necessary dental expenses, computers, and internet service. On average, we need between $5,000 and $6,000 to support one student annually. Since our official beginning in 2012, we have supported 49 students, and we now have 30 graduates. In that period, we have lost only five students. Our success rate is thus nearly 90%. We believe that our success is based on our commitment to comprehensive, consistent, and individualized work with our students. We have graduates in many fields, including Education, Law, Engineering, Computer Science, Fashion Design, International Business, Veterinary Science, Accounting, Finance, and Optometry. We currently have students in the areas of Architecture, Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, Mechanical Engineering, Psychology, Gastronomy, and Accounting. We work with allies in the Ecuadorian business community who support our students with internships and jobs. With the development of David's Educational Opportunity Fund-Ecuador in 2025, services can be offered immediately and efficiently, and ties with the educational and business communities in Ecuador are being extended and strengthened.Expenses $7,738 · grants $27,089
