Program accomplishments
- TRUMAN HERITAGE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY (THHFH) IS AN AFFILIATE OF HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL AND HAS SERVED EASTERN JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI SINCE 1989. WE OPERATE INDEPENDENTLY OF OUR INTERNATIONAL AFFILIATE AND ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR RAISING THE FUNDS TO SERVE OUR COMMUNITY. THE NUMBER OF PROJECTS COMPLETED EACH YEAR IS DIRECTLY DEPENDENT UPON THE FUNDS AND RESOURCES RAISED. HOME OWNERSHIP PROGRAM: FAMILIES IN NEED OF A DECENT PLACE TO LIVE BUILD SAFE AND AFFORDABLE HOMES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH US. HABITAT HOUSES ARE MODESTLY SIZED. THEY ARE LARGE ENOUGH FOR THE HOMEOWNER FAMILY'S NEEDS, BUT SMALL ENOUGH TO KEEP CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE COSTS AFFORDABLE. BY USING THE LABOR OF VOLUNTEERS AND PROSPECTIVE HOMEOWNERS, EMPLOYING EFFICIENT BUILDING METHODS, KEEPING HOUSE SIZES MODEST, USING DONATED CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AND APPLIANCES, AND ISSUING NO- PROFIT LOANS, HABITAT MAKES ITS HOUSES AFFORDABLE FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES TO PURCHASE. AFFORDABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP HELPS CREATE CONDITIONS THAT FREE FAMILIES FROM INSTABILITY, STRESS AND FEAR AND ENCOURAGE SELF-RELIANCE AND CONFIDENCE. STUDIES SHOW THAT STRONG AND STABLE HOUSEHOLDS ARE FOUNDATIONAL TO CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH. WHEN A HOME FOSTERS - INSTEAD OF HINDERS - HEALTH AND SAFETY, FAMILIES CAN FLOURISH. OWNING AN AFFORDABLE HOME ALSO ALLOWS HOMEOWNERS TO LIFT UP THEIR ENTIRE FAMILY BY SAVING FOR THEIR FUTURES AND INVESTING IN EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, BOLSTERING JOB OPPORTUNITIES AND LONG-TERM CAREER GROWTH. DURING FISCAL YEAR (FY) 2025, THHFH SERVED 4 FAMILIES THROUGH ITS HOMEOWNERSHIP PROGRAM AND TAUGHT 4 MASTER HOMEOWNER PROGRAM CLASSES WITH 73 ATTENDEES AND 28 GRADUSTES. HOME PRESERVATION PORGRAM: OUR HOME PRESERVATION PROGRAM IS AN OUTREACH INITIATIVE THAT SEEKS TO PROVIDE A WIDE RANGE OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOW- TO MODERATE-INCOME HOMEOWNERS, INCLUDING VETERANS AND SENIORS, WHO ARE STRUGGLING TO MAINTAIN THEIR HOMES BECAUSE OF AGE, DISABILITY OR FAMILY CIRCUMSTANCES. WE PARTNER WITH FAMILIES TO HELP THEM RECLAIM THEIR HOMES WITH PRIDE AND DIGNITY. THE PROGRAM ALLOWS FAMILIES TO STAY IN THEIR HOME AND AVOID THE UNCERTAINTY, TRAUMA AND EXPENSE OF MOVING. PROJECTS CONSIST OF INTERIOR AND/OR EXTERIOR REPAIRS INTENDED TO ALLEVIATE CRITICAL HEALTH, LIFE AND SAFETY ISSUES OR CODE VIOLATIONS. VOLUNTEER TEAMS WORK ALONG WITH SUBCONTRACTORS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF TRUMAN HERITAGE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY STAFF MEMBERS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS. SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THE HOME PRESERVATION PROGRAM, THHFH HAS PARTNERED WITH 70 LOCAL HOMEOWNERS THROUGH FY 20254.Expenses $1,974,536 · revenue $588,257
- THHFH OPERATES THREE RESTORE LOCATIONS THAT SELL DONATED HOME GOODS INCLUDING BUILDING MATERIALS, FURNITURE, APPLIANCES, FLOORING MATERIALS, TOOLS, AND OTHER ITEMS. INCOME FROM RESTORE SALES HELP FUND OUR MISSION. VOLUNTEERS ARE A VITAL SOURCE OF STAFFING FOR OUR RESTORE LOCATIONS. IN THE LAST FISCAL YEAR, 700 VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED 16,165 HOURS OF ASSISTANCE IN THE RESTORE LOCATIONS AND ON WORKSITES. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING MUCH NEEDED REVENUE FOR OUR AFFILIATE, THE RESTORES HAVE AN ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT BY DIVERTING RESELLABLE ITEMS FROM LANDFILLS. SINCE OPENING THE FIRST LOCATION IN 2013, RESTORE SALES HAVE DIVERTED MORE THAN 2,000 TONS OF SOLID WASTE FROM LOCAL LANDFILLS.Expenses $1,425,717
