Program accomplishments

  • South Lansing Farmers Market: The market provides food insecure residents with access to fresh, locally grown produce. Open seasonally from May through October, the market features local farmers and artisan producers, as well as live entertainment, children's activities, featured nonprofits, and dinner options. We accept snap benefits (EBT, WIC, and Market Fresh Coupons) and offer Double Up Food Bucks to EBT users who want to stretch their food dollars.
    Expenses $38,918 · grants $38,665
  • Garden/Nutrition: Our garden and nutrition programs are designed to increase consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables. We teach people to grow their own food and manage an urban farm that donates all harvest to local food pantries. We also provide garden based nutrition education to children, families, and seniors

  • Hawk Island Triathlon: The race promotes health and fitness, builds awareness of free and low-cost opportunities to exercise in local green spaces, and brings positive publicity to a community plagued by negative stereotypes.
