Mission
Our state and regional honor bands provide opportunities for student musicians across the state of Minnesota. Our regional honor bands are nonaudition based, while our state ensembles are audition-based. This model creates opportunities for higher level performance for some students and a fun enrichment activity for others. The program's expenses include conductor fees, music fees, food, t-shirts, facility rental, section coach fees, etc.
Program accomplishments
- In FYE 6/30/25, our state and regional honor bands provide opportunities for student musicians across the state of Minnesota. Our regional honor bands are non-audition based, while our state ensembles are audition-based. This model creates opportunities for higher level performance for some students and a fun enrichment activity for others. Each region operates a 6-8 honor band and a 9-10 honor band while most regions also provide 5th or 6th grade honor bands and honor jazz bands. With payments from a PELSB grant we offered a mentorship program to early career educators, pairing them up with a nearby experienced teacher for guidance.Expenses $108,576
