Mission

International Families Justice Coalition ("IFJC") was organized for charitable and educational purposes providing legal assistance and representations to indigent immigrants and foreign nationals involved in contested domestic relations and family law cases. IFJC provides pro-bono and low-bono legal services to immigrant / international families who are in divorce proceedings. Clients are low income (under federal poverty guidelines) or moderate means clients (under 200% of federal poverty guidelines). IFJC does not handle any clients on a profit basis, but refers potential clients to qualified, multi-lingual attorneys if they are not qualified for IFJC's pro bono or low bono services.

Program accomplishments

  • IFJC provides pro-bono legal services to immigrant international families who are in divorce proceedings. The goal of IFJC is threefold: First, IFJC develops a database of linguistically and culturally competent attorneys willing to take on family law to serve their communities, no matter what their primary practice is. The second goal is to provide family law, international, and immigration education to attorneys and judges to improve the effectiveness of legal services to the community. The third goal is to provide direct representation by volunteer attorneys to qualified indigent clients who otherwise are financially incapable of obtaining such service. For FY 2024-2025, IFJC secured funding from the State of Washington, and the funding allowed IFJC to hire an Executive Director who could expand our capacity.
